Road closures in Denham as HS2 repair damage
Residents and Emergency services will still have access

Moorfield road in Denham will be closed overnight from Monday 16 August to Friday 23 August while HS2 limited repair the road damage.
The repair work will undergo two phases of resurfacing, and will take place from 9pm to 5am every night this week. The road will still remain open during the day from 6am to 9pm.
Access will still be available to residents on the street and emergency services, but shutting it down to other users will help contractors to work safely, according to Buckinghamshire Council.
The Council has also stated:
‘Public Rights of Way will be maintained wherever possible, and access for residents and businesses will be managed by on site staff with signage and traffic marshalling for pedestrians. Traffic will be diverted between Denham to Harefield via Harvil Road, Swakeleys Road, A40 Western Avenue/ Oxford Road and A412 Denham Avenue/Orbital Way.’
Councillor Peter Martin, Cabinet Member for HS2 and EWR said:
“We are very aware that a number of roads across the county have been damaged by the HGVs connected with the HS2 construction projects.”
“The damage is particularly severe in several parts of the county and this is quite unacceptable.”
“We are pleased HS2 is doing this work in Denham but we are in intense and almost constant negotiations with HS2 to get other roads repaired by them and brought up to a safe and usable standard.”
“We are determined that HS2, when responsible for the damage, pay to repair the roads rather than having this effectively picked up by the Buckinghamshire Council Tax payer.”

An HS2 spokesperson said:
“We are pleased to be working together with Buckinghamshire Council on the resurfacing Moorfield Road. All parties agree that the necessary work predates the project, but HS2 and contractor Align are happy to be delivering a long-term improvement of the road for the benefit of local residents.
“HS2 is always working to reduce our impact on residents, whether building specialist haul roads to reduce pressure on local roads, or reducing truck movements by using rail to deliver materials. If there is evidence that HS2 traffic has damaged roads outside our sites, our contractors will take responsibility for the repairs and the project will contribute to the cost of road maintenance due to HS2 construction traffic.”
