Members of the public are being urged to avoid an area of Stevenage this morning, as Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) work at an address there.

They were called to the Poplars area earlier, to an address at a property near Magpie Crescent, off Gresley Way.

HFRS posted to X to say this incident could cause some impact on local traffic.

Hertfordshire Police are also in attendance, with investigations into the fire underway.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police were called at around 5.45am this morning to reports of a fire at a property on Blackberry Mead, Stevenage.

Investigations are currently ongoing, and we will update when further information is available."

We've contacted HFRS for more information.
