£3.5m plan to improve A41 traffic in Aylesbury
Bicester Road is notorious for congestion at rush hour, normally

A £3.5m plan to fix traffic issues on the A41 in Aylesbury has been published.
It covers the Bicester Road stretch and includes:
- Widening parts for extra lanes, between Paradise Orchard and Rabans Lane
- Moving the bus lane near Berryfields to make space for traffic, then installing one closer to Jackson Road
- Replacing the Jackson Road roundabout with traffic lights.
Bucks Council reckon all of this would improve journey times by as much as 50 per-cent, or around a minute or so at these pinch-points.
The traffic lights at Jackson Road would be synchronised with those at Berryfields, the council say.
The widened road between those two junctions would be four-lanes wide at one point, allowing more space for traffic a peak times and helping to cut queues.
The bus lane would then start just past the bridge and end just before it gets to Jackson Road.
We would also see an extra Aylesbury-bound lane between there and Rabans Lane.
Nick Naylor, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, says:
"The A41 is an important route between the town centre, Berryfields and Aylesbury Vale Parkway, and traffic gets very heavy at peak times"
"We've been doing site surveys and traffic modelling, which we are using to help design the best solution and we now need the public to view the proposals and share their feedback".
There will be a live MS Teams Online Presentation along with a Question & Answer session on Thursday 28th January 18:00–19:30, in which members of the project team will be able to run through the proposed highway changes in detail and answer any queries and comments you may have.
If you would like to be invited to the A41 Bicester Road Online Presentation email the team mailbox: hitmailbox@buckinghamshire.gov.uk and the Council will send you a code to join the meeting.
