Following a visit from South Oxfordshire District Council street trader officers the award winning business has had to close.

Atalay's have been told they need to apply for street trading consent and can't re-open until it's approved.

Posting on Facebook they said:

We don't think we have been doing anything illegal. If we were, why haven't we been told this during the last 32 years!

As a small business during the pandemic we have already suffered. We have tried our hardest to keep all our staff, we have just about managed to keep our business going after having to close for 2 months.

The post has been shared nearly 400 times on Facebook with customers showing their support for the family run business.

Josh Vickers started a petition online after he heard the news, which has already gained over 800 signatures.

He said:

I myself am very close with the owners of the van and they are one of the nicest families you will ever meet. No one deserves to be treated like this.
