Bedfordshire police are searching for eight detainees from Yarl's Wood detention centre.

It's after thirteen escaped after 'disruption' on Friday night (April 28).

The force received reports from staff at the facility that there was disorder shortly before 10pm. Thirteen individuals fled through the outer fencing of the center, with five of them later being detained by police.

The remaining eight individuals, seven Albanian men in their twenties, and one in his thirties are still being looked for. The police are currently investigating their whereabouts to ensure the safety of the detainees as well as the wider public. They have reassured the public that none of those who have escaped pose any risk to the community.

Police have urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of the eight individuals still on the run to contact them immediately on 101 or via beds.police.uk/ro/report, quoting Operation Springhill.

The staff at the facility have regained full control of the building, and it is now secure. The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
