Investigations are underway after an alleged racist comment made towards a Luton Town player during their 3-2 win at Sheffield United on Boxing Day.
Carlton Morris complained about something being said in the home crowd late in the second half.
The striker came off the bench to create two own goals in four minutes for Luton as they beat the Blades in a crucial Premier League battle.
Morris reported the issue to referee Sam Allison, who became the first black referee to officiate a Premier League match in 15 years.
The game was stopped while Allison spoke to both managers about the incident.
Luton Town have issued a statement, saying they take a "zero-tolerance stance against all forms of discrimination".
The statement goes on to say the matter is being investigated by South Yorkshire Police, and that they're offering Carlton their full support, as they would any other player suffering abuse.
Luton Town also thanked Sheffield United officials and the police in their statement:
"We can confirm that Luton Town striker Carlton Morris reported an alleged racist comment from the crowd during this afternoon’s Premier League fixture at Bramall Lane.
"Carlton reported it to the match officials in line with Premier League protocols, and the matter was dealt with immediately by both Sheffield United and South Yorkshire Police, who are currently investigating.
"Luton Town Football Club will offer Carlton and any other player suffering abuse our full support, and would like to reiterate that we take a zero tolerance stance against all forms of discrimination, whether in person or online.
"We would like to thank both Sheffield United officials and the police for their swift actions in dealing with today’s incident."
Sheffield United have also issued a statement saying they have a "zero-tolerance approach" to racism:
They also say that "There is no place for this behaviour in football, or society as a whole."
Anti-racism organisation Kick It Out have now posted their support for the Luton Town striker, on a post on X, saying:
"We send our full support to Carlton Morris.
It’s shameful that once again a player should be subjected to alleged racism while doing their job.
Morris should be praised for how he handled the situation, and we commend the clubs, police and officials for their swift approach.
But it should never have to come to this. Those who think this vile behaviour towards players is acceptable need to face the strongest possible consequences."
