As Christmas approaches the NSPCC are seeking support from across the home counties as they set to light up local monuments in the colour green on Monday 21st December.

The Christmas appeal was launched earlier this month with an advert broadcast across TV in which they show Childline counsellors taking calls at Christmas from children struggling with loneliness, isolation, suicidal thoughts and feelings and physical abuse.

Childline is staffed by 1,200 trained volunteer counsellors who give up their time to provide a vital listening ear for children. The Childline service is here for children every day and this Christmas Day counsellors will head to bases across the UK so that children have somewhere to turn.

Emma Alexandra, a community and fundraising manager said: "We are always on the lookout for new volunteers, especially across the home counties".
