North Herts policing priorities set with focus on ASB, speeding and e-scooter enforcement
Teams will concentrate on local concerns raised by residents.
The North Herts Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) has outlined its key priorities for the coming months, addressing local issues raised by residents and supported by data analysis.
NPTs collaborate with partners to tackle both short-term and long-term neighbourhood concerns, including anti-social behaviour (ASB), theft, speeding, and drug-related crime. Local priorities are reviewed every four months, focusing on specific concerns brought forward by community surveys and monitoring.
Residents will witness their local team of police constables (PCs) and police community support officers (PCSOs) actively working in these areas. Plans include an increased police presence, community engagement events, and targeted enforcement to tackle the agreed priorities.
In the last four-month period, the team has addressed several key issues across Baldock and Letchworth, including:
ASB in Howard Park and Letchworth town centre
Work was carried out on this seasonal issue, which became more evident during the summer and autumn months. Patrols were increased, and officers engaged with individuals involved to reduce instances of ASB.
E-scooters
Dedicated operations in Baldock and Letchworth led to multiple e-scooters, e-bikes, and motorcycles being seized. Offenders have been dealt with accordingly. Funding has also been secured to support further enforcement in this area over the coming months.
Speeding on Wilbury Road, Letchworth Garden City
Addressing speeding concerns will remain a priority for the local team as targeted work continues.
The North Herts NPT will continue to build on these efforts and maintain engagement with the community, ensuring residents’ concerns are at the forefront of their policing focus.
