Detectives investigating a collision in Hatfield- where an elderly man died, have released an image of a potential witness’s car. The incident happened on Thursday 15 August on the traffic light-controlled crossing by the shopping centre on Queensway at around 9am.

A mobility scooter, being driven by a 79-year-old man from the town, was involved in a collision with a silver Kia Creed.

The elderly male, who has since been named as Keith Whiting, was described by his family as a ‘loved father, grandfather, uncle and brother’.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics but sadly died shortly after the collision.

Now, officers investigating the incident are trying to locate the occupants of a suspected white Kia Sportage Mark 4, produced between 2015 to 2020, as they may have witnessed the collision.

Detective Sergeant Ben Heath, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with Keith’s loved ones at this difficult time, and I am urging anyone with information to please come forward.

“We suspect that the driver or occupants of the white Kia may have witnessed the collision, and we would like them to please come forward to assist the investigation.

“I would like to make it clear that the occupants are not in trouble, but we think they may have key information to help our enquiries and wish to speak with them.
