A veteran from Princes Risborough was worried the Poppy Appeal would be forgotten this year, so he's walking 11 miles, in 11 days at 11am.

Malcolm Cloutt is 100 in just a few weeks, but was determined to raise funds.

He told Greatest Hits Radio:

"My daughter and I were very concerned that there were not poppy collectors this year, so she came up with the idea, which I was very pleased to do, of doing a charity walk around RIsborough."

Malcolm has already been out and about and has gained a following in the town, as he seeks to raise money for the Royal British Legion.

He told us why it's an organisation close to his heart:

"It has more meaning for me, because I survived the war and so many men and women didn't.

"This is something I can do for the Royal British Legion, who help ex-servicemen and women."

Malcolm served in World War Two as an RAF pilot, serving in Burma, but also closer to home.

He told us what his highlight was from that time:

"Flying paratroops on the eve of D-Day and then, subsequently, flying supplies in and wounded out.

"It was interesting that a soldier could be injured 'today' and be in hospital in England 'tomorrow' or even the same day!

"It was very gratifying work to do."

The veteran turns 100 in just a few weeks and his daughter Pauline says she sees this challenge as a celebration of his centenary as well.

So far, over ÂŁ5,000 has been donated, which was Malcolm's original target.
