National Trust Sites in Bucks among those allowed to remain open

Outdoor areas including gardens and parkland can continue to accept visitors.

Some Buckinghamshire National Trust sites will stay open during this lockdown.

People will be able to access National Trust sites, such as parks and gardens, during the national lockdown that begins in England today.

Houses, shops and holiday accommodation to close but online shops are to remain open.

In line with social distancing and Government guidance, gardens, parks, countryside, car parks, toilets and outdoor play areas will stay open.

The gardens and parks will only be open for pre-booked visits though.

Gardens and parkland at Stowe, Hughenden, Cliveden, Basildon Park, Greys Court and The Vyne will remain open, Waddesdon will close from 2 Nov to 2 Dec.

The charity's Director General Hilary McGrady said:

"We follow Government advice and guidance at all times, in each of the nations we serve.

"We know how important access to green space, nature and fresh air are to people, and we'll do everything we can to provide them during the next phase. Our priorities will remain the safety and well-being of visitors, staff and volunteers."

The Trust said, where possible, visitors would still be able to get take away food and drink.

Hilary added:

"We know this month is going to be tough for everyone and we want to give members and visitors as much pleasure, rest and enjoyment as we can."
