Thames Valley Police say their murder investigation in Chesham is continuing.

The force aren't looking to make any further arrests after a 33-year-old died in hospital on Saturday night (14 June) after an assault last week.

Officers were called out last Tuesday (10 June) by the ambulance service after a man was assaulted at the Upland Avenue junction with Upper Belmont Road.

An 18 year old man and a 46 year old man, both from Chesham, who were arrested on suspicion of murder have been released on bail.

A post-mortem has been conducted but the cause of death could not be determined. The formal identification processes have not yet taken place.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Peter Clarke of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family following this tragic incident.

“We continue to support them, providing updates on the investigation.

“Our investigation is continuing with multiple lines of enquiry being followed, however at this time we are not looking to make any further arrests in relation to the assault.

“Further forensic tests are required following the post-mortem earlier this afternoon, as such we have bailed the two people arrested so this further work can be conducted.

“Members of the public are likely to see an ongoing police presence while we carry out our enquiries.

“If anyone has information and has not yet come forward then they can call 101 or make a report online quoting reference number 43250286973.

“Alternatively, you can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
