Death of man found in flat in Hertfordshire treated as murder

Detectives have opened a murder investigation in Hertfordshire, after a man in his 40s was found unresponsive in a flat on Sunday night.

Police were called to Jasmine House, on High Street, Bushey, around 10.45pm on Sunday (23rd January), and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following a post-mortem examination, the death is now being treated as murder.

Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. Specialist officers continue to provide support and we request that the family’s privacy is respected.

“Our investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances around what happened and we are appealing for anyone with information to please come forward.

“Did you see or hear anything suspicious in the area between Saturday night and Sunday evening? Any information at all could greatly assist our enquiries.”

Hertfordshire Constabulary are asking people to report information online, or via the force communications room on 101, quoting 'Op Pochade.'

Hertsmere Chief Inspector Mark Bilsdon said: “I appreciate incidents of this nature cause a great deal of concern among the community. I would like to reassure people that we are doing all we can to investigate the circumstances around what happened. Officers remain in the area, so please do not hesitate to speak with them if you have any concerns.”
