Aylesbury's MP is urging the government to approve the spur of East West Rail for the town.

Following the news last week that it hadn't been given the go-ahead yet, Rob Butler MP has spoken to the Rail Minister, Chris Heaton-Harris MP to urge him to secure funding as soon as possible.

Rob said:

"I've made clear to the Rail Minister that the Aylesbury spur of East West Rail is crucial, and the money must be found to make it a reality.

"This rail link would make a real difference to Aylesbury - it would reduce traffic on our over-crowded roads and make the town an even more attractive place to live, work, visit and invest.

"It's ironic that local people are being forced to accept the destruction and disruption of a railway they don't want - HS2 - but not yet being given the benefits of one that would create great local opportunities for jobs and help us build back better after Covid.

"That's why I will continue to campaign with local Conservative councillors to persuade the Government to approve the Aylesbury spur and unlock the benefits it will bring to the town and surrounding area."
