Police draft in dive teams in search for missing Stanstead Abbotts man
Specialist dive teams are joining police efforts as the search intensifies for a 60-year-old man last seen near The Boat Yard
Specialist dive teams have been deployed as part of the search for a man missing from Stanstead Abbotts since Saturday.
Gary, 60, was last seen at The Boat Yard in South Street at around midday on 18 January. Police have stepped up their efforts to locate him, including a visible police presence in the area and the use of diving equipment to search waterways near the marina.
Chief Inspector Mark Collins of East Herts CSP said: “My local officers and detectives have been working around the clock, searching for Gary, and I am increasingly concerned about his welfare.
“Please do not be alarmed if you see a high police presence in the area. We are using all resources available, including dive teams, to find Gary.
“The marina is a popular area for leisure activities, including dog walking, and I urge anyone walking along the canal path to remain vigilant and report anything that may assist our inquiries.”
Gary is described as slim, around 5ft 5ins tall, with grey hair and a goatee beard. He was last seen wearing a green puffer jacket, a dark hoodie, jeans, and brown boots.
Anyone who has seen Gary or has information about his whereabouts should report it online at herts.police.uk/report, contact police via web chat at herts.police.uk/contact, or call 101.
