Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Unit take over Caddington investigation
A man in his 30s has been re-arrested in connection with the discovery of suspicious substances
The Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command has taken over an investigation into suspicious substances found in a Bedfordshire Village.
S015 are now in charge of the Caddington investigation, as a man in his 30s has been re-arrested.
The man, from Caddington, was first arrested on May 6th, then bailed.
Yesterday, May 14th, he was re-arrested on suspicion of possession of an item of use to a terrorist, under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
Bedfordshire Police reassuring residents there is no risk to locals or the wider public at the moment.
A controlled explosion was carried out at the site last week by Explosive Ordnance Disposal.
Bedfordshire Police Chief Superintendent Jaki Whittred said: "We are committed to keeping the public of Caddington safe and will be maintaining a police presence at the scene as well as continuing high-visibility patrols and community engagement in the area.
"Please be reassured there is no risk to local residents or the wider public at this time.
"If anyone has any concerns they should speak to our officers or contact us on 101 quoting Operation Gronlid."
