There's concern that children will be missing out on swimming lessons after the sudden closure of a sports centre in South Cambridgeshire.

Melbourn Sports Centre has been used by local families and schools since 1991, but a statement announced its 'immediate closure until further notice'.

The facilities has a swimming pool and gym and provided fitness classes and swimming lessons.

The statement on the centre's website said 'it has been a privilege and a pleasure to work with and teach' families in the area.

The Centre is ran by Be Active Melbourn Ltd, which has had to cease trading and will be going into liquidation shortly.

The centre is on the grounds of Melbourn Village College, who have been approached for comment.
