A High Wycombe man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison after being found guilty of rape and sexual assault.

Luke Castle, 37, of West Wycombe Road, received the sentence at Aylesbury Crown Court. He was also given an extended licence period of six years.

Castle was found guilty of two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault during an earlier hearing at the same court on 8th August.

The crimes took place at around 9pm on 16th December 2024, when a woman was raped in The Rye, off Bassetsbury Lane in High Wycombe.

Castle was arrested later that same evening and was charged on 18th December.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Lily Beavis said she was pleased with the serious sentence handed down by the judge.

“I am grateful that the tireless amount of work put in has been repaid," Beavis said.

She thanked the efforts of the victim liaison officer, Rebecca Newman, as well as the prosecution barrister, Jonathan Stone, for their dedication throughout the case.

Beavis added that she hoped the outcome could help the victim move forward with her life:

The officer assured the public that Thames Valley Police remain committed to pursuing sexual offence cases, no matter when they took place.

“You will be supported, no matter what the passage of time, and we will bring offenders to justice,” she said.
