Man recovering in hospital following Bishop's Stortford stabbing

Detectives in Hertfordshire say they're urgently pursuing all lines of enquiry after a man in his 40s was stabbed.

He's recovering in hospital following what's believed to have been an isolated and targeted attack in Bishop's Stortford last night (Friday 28th November 2025).

No one has been arrested so far.

A Hertfordshire Police spokesperson said:

"At around 7.43pm on Burghley Avenue a man in his 40s was stabbed following an altercation. He remains in hospital at this time.

"Officers attended the scene immediately and are urgently pursuing all lines of enquiry to identify and arrest those responsible.

"Whilst this is believed to be an isolated, targeted attack and there is no risk to the wider public, there will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days to offer reassurance to residents and local businesses."
