Man jailed for multiple offences in High Wycombe
He assaulted and threatened people with a knife in McDonalds and Morrisons
A man has been jailed for a number of offences in High Wycombe, after assaulting and threatening people with a knife in McDonalds and Morrisons.
Ian Keighley, aged 50, of Marygold Walk in Little Chalfont, pleaded guilty to one count of attempted robbery, four counts of using threatening behaviour with a bladed article, one count of criminal damage and one count of assault by beating.
He has been sentenced to four and a half years’ in prison.
On 3 March this year, police received multiple calls from the public that a man was randomly assaulting and threatening people in McDonalds, Bellfield Road/Dovecot Road, and Morrisons in High Wycombe.
Further reports that the man was trying to get into a number of vehicles at the McDonalds drive-through and fighting with the public were received.
Keighley was seen to head towards Morrisons, where he continued to threaten the public with a knife outside the store and another man on Glenister Road.
Keighley was arrested and charged on 3 March.
Investigating officer PC Dan Page, based at High Wycombe police station, said:
"Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured as a result of Keighley’s rampage.
"But he randomly assaulted and threatened members of the public going about their day-to-day business.
"This sentence is a reflection of the offences that he committed.
"I hope that this conviction and sentence sends a robust message to others who would look to inflict this type of fear of violence on innocent people that Thames Valley Police will not tolerate this and bring offenders to justice."
