Aylesbury man jailed for robbery

An Aylesbury man has been jailed for robbery in High Wycombe.
Shaun Walker, aged 37, of Carrington Road, Aylesbury, was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of robbery at Aylesbury Crown Court on the 10th of October.
It happened at around 1pm on 7 July earlier this year when Walker attacked and robbed the victim, a man in his eighties, in Wycombe Cemetery on Priory Road.
Walker dragged the victim to the floor from behind and punched him in the chest two or three times before pulling his shoulder bag over his head and running away with it in the direction of Priory Road.
The bag contained two wallets, one containing a small quantity of cash, two bank cards, a paying in book, and the other containing a passport, driving licence, NHS card and blood donor card, along with some personal papers and a mobile phone.
The victim suffered bruising to his chest.
Following an investigation by the Priority Crime Team, based at High Wycombe police station, Walker was arrested and charged on September 9.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Joseph Openshaw, of the High Wycombe Priority Crime Team, said: “Shaun Walker’s conviction was the direct result of the support of the victim and the positive investigation by High Wycombe Priority Crime Team.
“Walker assaulted and stole property from a vulnerable elderly man and I’m pleased he has now been brought to justice.”
