Dunstable sexual predator jailed for 5 years for following and assaulting two women
The victims were walking on their own when the offences occurred

A man from Dunstable's been jailed for assaulting and following two lone women.
The incidents took place just two days apart.
On September 30th, 2023, 25-year-old Mahmoud Nashawi, of Church Street, Dunstable, followed a woman along Poynters Road in Luton, before approaching her and asking for a kiss. When the woman rejected Nashawi, he grabbed and sexually assaulted her.
A teenage girl who heard screaming called 999 and waited for police with the victim, Nashawi led the scene.
On October 1st in Dunstable, High Street, Nashawi targeted a second woman, following her home and exposing himself to her at the doorstep.
Nashawi was identified on CCTV, arrested, and sentenced at Luton Crown Court on April 5th to five years and seven months in prison.
Detective Inspector Victoria Willett, from Bedfordshire Police’s Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) team, said: “Nashawi had committed two serious sexual assaults where he followed, intimidated and preyed on two lone females.
“His attacks were carried out in a short space of time, and we are glad he was able to be stopped before his behaviour escalated.
“I would like to commend the two victims in this case. They have showed true courage to come forward and report their ordeal, and to continue their support throughout the investigation.
“We have several specially trained victim engagement officers who work closely with victims, supporting them throughout the investigation and justice process, as well helping them to move forward and recover.
“I would also like to praise the teenager who passed by and disturbed the incident, supporting the victim and calling the police. The judge rightly highly commended this teenager for her bravery.
“Attacks like these are rare, however women deserve to feel safe in public spaces. They should not have to look over their shoulder, or worry about who is approaching them, and we will always relentlessly pursue the vile perpetrators of such abhorrent behaviour.”
