A man has been charged with murder and grievous bodily harm following the death of a woman in Luton earlier this week.

Emergency services were called to Turners Road North on Monday (20 January) at around 11.30am, where two women were injured in an incident. Dianne Cleary, 46, from Luton, sustained serious injuries and died shortly afterwards. A second woman, in her 20s, was also injured, but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Jacob Clark, 25, of Skelton Close, Luton, was arrested on Wednesday (22 January) and charged earlier today (23 January) with murder and section 18 grievous bodily harm. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Luton Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (24 January).

Detective Inspector Adam Bridges, who is leading the investigation, said: “We can confirm the sad news that Dianne Cleary sadly lost her life following this incident, and we have specially trained officers supporting her loved ones. Our thoughts are with them. The family have asked the media to respect their privacy at this exceptionally difficult time.

“We continue to work around the clock on this case and are still appealing for anyone with information to contact police quoting Operation Wroxham. We recognise the impact this has had not only on Dianne’s relatives and friends but also the wider community, and we thank them for their support and patience as we conduct a thorough investigation.”

Tributes have been paid to Dianne, who has been described by friends and family as an “amazing mother” and a “loving and loyal” person. A GoFundMe page set up in her memory has already raised more than £4,000.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Bedfordshire Police, quoting Operation Wroxham, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
