Man charged with attempted murder after suspicious object found in Borehamwood

A man has been charged with attempted murder with detectives investigating the discovery of a suspicious object in Borehamwood on Saturday.

38 year old Robert Kovacs of Tenby Road, Edgware, was charged was also charged with Making an explosive substance with intent to endanger life / injure property and doing an act with intent to cause an explosion likely to endanger life / injure property.

Kovacs was remanded into custody following a court appearance this morning ahead of his next court appearance at St Albans Magistrates Court on Monday 8 September.

Detective Inspector Caeva Taylor from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, who is leading the investigation, said: “I understand that the news of this incident has caused concern among the local community. We believe this to be an isolated incident, involving parties known to one of the suspects and there is no intelligence to suggest any wider threat to the public.”

“I’d like to take this opportunity to appeal to the public for any information that may assist our enquiries.

“If you remember noticing anything suspicious in the Cowley Hill area between Friday 15 August and Saturday 16 August, or have any information that may help, please contact us.”
