A 77-year-old man has been charged with murdering their wife in Milton Keynes.

Michael Sargent, of Bradwell Road, Loughton, Milton Keynes, was charged with murdering 73-year-old Christine Sargent by police last night (May 22).

He was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder on Saturday May 20th, where officers found the woman unconscious inside a property at Bradwell Road.

She was given emergency first aid at the scene before being taken to hospital, where she sadly died.

Sargent is due to appear Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Thames Valley Police have now confirmed the victim has been formally identified as Christine Sargent, aged 73, from Milton Keynes.

Provisional results from a Home Office post-mortem examination which took place yesterday, show that Christine died as a result of neck compression.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Dejan Avramovic, of the Major Crime Unit, said: “Christine’s family are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers and our thoughts are with them.

“On their behalf, we would ask that their privacy is respected at this extremely distressing time for them.”
