Man charged in connection with murder in Wendover

An Aylesbury man has been charged in connection with a murder in Wendover.

Police were called at around 5.25pm on Tuesday (6/4) following reports of an assault at a property in Aylesbury Road.

A 77 year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Courtnay Bamford, aged 36 and of Griffin Lane in Aylesbury, has today (9/4) been charged with one count of murder.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Oxford Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Although formal identification has not yet taken place, Thames Valley Police, as well as the victim’s family, has said they are "satisfied" that the man who died at the scene is John Bamford.

The family has asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.
