Man charged following Stevenage rape

Police say they're "grateful for the level of bravery this woman has shown"

Detectives investigating an allegation of rape in Stevenage have charged and remanded a man in connection with the offences.

Peter Wallace, 29, of Mobbsbury Way, Stevenage, was charged with rape and remanded in custody today, Tuesday 8 August.

The charge relates to an incident that occurred in Chells Park on Sunday 6 August.

Detective Inspector Michael Macbeth, of the Sexual Offences Investigation Team, said: “I am grateful for the level of bravery this woman has shown by coming forward to report this incident.

“Anyone wishing to report a rape or sexual assault will always be treated sensitively and with respect by us. We recognise how difficult it must be but please be assured we have specially trained officers who can help you every step of the way.”
