Hertfordshire Police have charged a man with possession of a firearm after an incident with a gun in Watford.

The force were called by security guards at the Atria shopping centre, to reports of an incident where three men were involved, two believed to have a gun on them, pointed towards the third man.

The victim left the scene and flagged down officers during the incident on Tuesday (September 24), who took him to safety.

CCTV led to officers then attending the Sainsbury's car park in Albert Road South, leading to the arrest of 23-year-old Mohammed Al-Saadi, of Eltham Avenue in Slough.

A gun was also found under a vehicle.

He was later charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence and possession of a knife/bladed article.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at St Albans Crown Court on October 24th.

Detective Sergeant Sarah Hern, from the Watford Local Crime Unit, said: “Thanks to the swift report from Atria staff and the quick response of our officers, we were able to rapidly trace a suspect and locate a discarded weapon. We have now seized this firearm, taking another weapon off the streets and will continue our efforts to keep everyone safe. Our enquiries are ongoing to identify the second suspect.”
