Campaigners from Insulate Britain have blocked multiple exits of the M25 this morning.

Junction 20 in Hertfordshire, which is a slip road onto the A41 into Buckinghamshire, has been closed off by the group.

A statement on the group's website explains why they're protesting today:

"During rush hour today motorway traffic on the M25 was brought to a standstill by campaigners from Insulate Britain, a new group demanding that the government gets on with the job of insulating Britain’s homes.

"Insulate Britain says today’s disruption is just the start. Actions will continue until the government makes a meaningful commitment to insulate Britain’s 29 million leaky homes, some of the oldest and most energy inefficient in Europe."

National Highways have tweeted confirming both exit slips at J20 are closed, saying it is due to a police indcident.

They have also confirmed Beds, Cambs and Herts Roads Police are on the scene.

Hertfordshire Police have provided this comment:

"We are currently dealing with an incident near junction 20 (Hemel Hempstead) of the M25 involving a small number of protestors. Officers are at the scene.

"The M25 is currently closed at junction 20 westbound, and as a result there is heavy traffic on the A41. Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible."
