The M1 was closed northbound in Bedfordshire earlier this morning (27 September) after a lorry collided with a bridge.

It happened just after 7.50am.

Bedfordshire Police said all four lanes between Junction 11a and Junction 12 were closed, but have now (11.50am) been reopened.

A spokesperson for Highways England said:

"We had a report at 07:48 that a lorry had struck a bridge on the M1 northbound between J11a – J12.

"Traffic was held shortly while a lane 1 closure was implemented.

"There is no visible damage to the bridge although we have engineers attending to carrying out a full inspection of the bridge.

"There were no delays reported."
