Two men arrested following violent disorder in Chaul End Lane
Two men have been arrested after a violent disorder in Luton involving the possible presence of a firearm.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening, 6th January, at around 8pm in a retail park car park on Chaul End Lane. Police were called to reports of an altercation and a suspected gunshot sound in the area.
A man was treated for minor injuries which police confirmed were not caused by a firearm.
Following searches conducted in the area, officers arrested two men, aged 43 and 53. They are currently in police custody for questioning.
Police investigation underway
Detective Inspector Kim Caddy said: “We are in the early stages of investigation and have two people currently in custody in relation to this incident, but we are keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone who may have been driving near the area at the time.
“Initial calls and enquiries point to the possible presence of a firearm, which is understandably likely to cause concern in the community. Part of the car park was cordoned off for searches, and we have maintained a presence in the area for community reassurance.
“We would urge anyone with information to come forward to help us investigate the circumstances of this disorder and locate those involved.”
