Luton Town Football Club's captain, Tom Lockyer, has spoken up for the first time since he suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this month.

The club captain updated his fans on his social media account in a message thanking all for their support since the incident.

Lockyer fell to the ground during a Premier League game against Bournemouth on December 16, before being attended to by paramedics and taken to hospital, where he remained for five days.

On his Instagram account, the captain said he is "doing very well and feeling very much myself", and thanked paramedics and hospital staff for his recovery.

Lockyer further said he would be meeting with specialists in the new year, and stressed the importance of knowing vital CPR, which he said has 'saved his life'.

The player received a wave of support from fans across the UK and beyond, and has thanked all for what he called 'overwhelming' support.

"I would like to thank Bournemouth, Gary Sweet, Rob Edwards and Luton Town for the support they’ve given my family during this time", he added.
