Luton Town FC is preparing for possibly one of the most historic matches in its history this weekend.

The Hatters take on Coventry City in the final of the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday at Wembley Stadium.

It's been a meteoric rise for Luton, who came from non-league football from 2014 to being on the verge of a promotion to the Premier League.

With the Final fast approaching, fans are getting ready to cheer on the Hatters, both at the Stadium and at home at Kenilworth Park.

Kevin Harper, from Luton Town's Supporter Trust, knew about the importance for both Luton and Coventry ahead of the big game.

"We were both in League Two just five years ago and got promoted from that division together. Obviously, only one of us is gonna get promoted this time, and hopefully, it's Luton," he said.

"It'll be a great story, but we're not really interested in stories. We just want Luton to win the game."

Tickets have been in hot demand for both sides, as supporters look to fill he stands to watch their teams clash. Harper told us that the atmosphere is going to be "amazing".

Luton made their way to the final after a tough fought semi-final against Sunderland. The Hatters decisively beat the team on home turf 2-0, to ecstatic reactions from the stands.

However, fans are aware that Coventry will put up a tough fight, which could stop the team from making it through.

"Coventry aren't going to be easy, they beat Middlesbrough, they deserve to beat Middlesbrough. But you know, we're we're a good side. We finished third in the league for a reason. We finished ten points above them and hopefully that will be the difference at Wembley," Harper said.

The town has already had immediate success in the promotion of the club and the town, and should the Hatters come out on top, the entire town looks set to benefit.

"For us, it would be for the first time means absolutely everything - not just for the football club but for the town as a whole. We could get a new stadium, the profile of the town, everything.

"It's absolutely massive, but I've got faith in the boys."

For the final prediction, Kevin proceeded with caution as he gave his best guess as to how the game will go.

"This time, 2-0 seems to be a a familiar score in big matches for us this season.

"So while 3-2 tends to be the way that Luton tend to do things when they go to Wembley, I'm gonna just play it a little bit safer and I'll go with 2-0 to Luton for this game."

The final of the Sky Bet Championship will take place at 4:45p.m on Saturday, 27th of May. You can watch the show on Sky Sports.
