Just Stop Oil protestors block M25 in Hertfordshire
It follows Hertfordshire Police arresting 7 protestors yesterday
Herts Police are once again dealing with Just Stop Oil protestors who've bought traffic to a standstill again this morning, after climbing gantries on the M25.
This follows seven arrests being made yesterday.
Climate activists climbed gantries in opposition to Government plans for new fossil fuel projects.
Speaking on Twitter, Hertfordshire Police said:
"We are now dealing with incidents at junction 21a (Bricket Wood) and junction 22 (London Colney), with protestors secured to gantries."
"Some lanes have been closed in order to allow officers to assess the situation, and we are working to get these lifted as soon as possible."
Some lanes have now been re-opened at Junction 20 for Kings Langley after earlier disruption.
Spokesperson for the group, Charlotte Kirin, said:
"In order to survive, we need to take action to stop new oil and gas. For as long as the government pretends this isn’t the priority, I will do what I can to demand a response."
"History shows us that we have to challenge unjust laws."
"What is being done to people all over the globe in the name of profit is the greatest imaginable injustice."
