Joint fundraising appeal to support Buckinghamshire healthcare charities
People can buy a tile that will form part of a monument outside Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury.
Two Buckinghamshire organisation have teamed up for a fundraising appeal.
Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity have partnered with Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Charitable Fund to raise money for health case in Buckinghamshire.
The pair are asking members of the public to sponsor a tile, which will form part of the new Nightingale's Rainbow Structure planned for Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Chief Executive, Neil Macdonald said:
"We're delighted to be joining Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity to launch the Nightingale's Rainbow Appeal. This year has been the one of the hardest in NHS history and the demand on our staff and services has increased dramatically.
"I've seen first-hand the generosity of the local community during the pandemic and I have no doubt that the residents of Buckinghamshire will come together to support this vital appeal."
The cost of building the structure has been covered by local businesses who offered support when the plan was first announcement.
This means that the money donated for a tile will go directly to supporting the charities.
Jo Turner, CEO of Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity explains what that will mean:
"Our fundraising income has been severely impacted this year, and we have now had to close our Shops for a further four weeks in a traditionally busy time of year.
"We hope that the Buckinghamshire community will pull together and get behind the Nightingale's Rainbow Appeal to show their support for healthcare in their area and make a real difference to the service we can deliver in future."
