Investigation taking place into unexplained death in High Wycombe
A 67-year-old man was found on Saturday afternoon
Thames Valley Police are investigating an unexplained death of a 67-year-old man in High Wycombe.
A member of the public had called officers to an address in Parsonage Close on Saturday afternoon (April 15) after reporting concerns for the welfare of the man.
South Central Ambulance Service were also in attendance and sadly found the man's body, which had injuries of initial concern.
Police did initially launch a murder investigation and arrested a 42-year-old man from High Wycombe at the address on suspicion of murder, but he was released yesterday (April 16) without any further action.
The 67-year-old man’s next of kin have been informed and have been offered support by specially trained officers.
Head of Major Crime Detective Superintendent Kevin Brown said: “Firstly, my condolences go to the man’s next of kin during this difficult time.
“After our officers discovered the body yesterday, we launched a murder investigation, with a man arrested on suspicion of murder.
“However, our subsequent investigation and a forensic pathology examination this morning suggest that the death is unexplained rather than criminal at this stage.
“Nonetheless, the cause of death remains unascertained pending further pathological tests and our investigation is ongoing.
“The arrested man has been released and we are not looking for anyone else at this stage.
“Furthermore, we do not believe there is any threat to the wider community.
“I would ask anyone who may have information about this man’s death to please contact us.
“You can do so by calling 101 or by making a report on our website, quoting reference number 43230163805.
“Alternatively, you can provide information anonymously to the independent charity, Crimestoppers, by calling 0800 555 111 or via its website.”
