It's race day at the Silverstone circuit today with Max Verstappen in pole position.

Home to the first ever Formula 1 Grand Prix World Championship in 1950, the 52 lap circuit will see Red Bull's Max Verstappen try to further his lead in the Driver Standings.

It's the home race on the calendar for three British Formula 1 drivers, with Stevenage's Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and Lando Norris racing for a podium place in front of their home crowds.

There's set to be a record-breaking crowd across the weekend.

McLaren's Lando Norris qualified in 2nd, meaning he'll start alongside Verstappen on the front row.

Seven-time World Championship winner Lewis Hamilton qualify 7th, with his teammate George Russell lining up in 6th.

Last year's British Grand Prix had it's fair share of dramatic crashes and passes, with the Alfa Romeo of Zhou Guanyu crashing into the barriers at Turn 1 after a tap on the rear right tyre by the Mercedes of George Russell.

It also saw Hamilton seize a podium position, finishing third after passing the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc with just four laps to go. The Brit finished in third place, behind Red Bull's Sergio Perez in second.

Carlos Sainz took home the first place trophy for the British Grand Prix 2022, for Ferrari, marking the driver's first victory in the motor sport.

Today's race will see Max Verstappen aim to strengthen his lead in the 2023 Driver Standings, currently on 229 points.

Behind him is teammate Sergio Perez, on 148, with the Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso in third wit 131 points.

Lewis Hamilton currently sits fourth on 106, with Mercedes teammate George Russell seventh with 72.

McLaren's Lando Norris is 10th.

160,000 people are set to be attending the Silverstone Circuit today, with more than 450,00 expected to have attended across the weekend.

Tom Grennan is set to take to the Silverstone stage to round up the weekend.

Music from Calvin Harris and Jess Glynne kicked off the music scene at the launch party on Thursday. Jax Jones performed on Friday, with the Black Eyed Peas taking to the stage last night.

On Thursday, actor Brad Pitt was pictured arriving at the circuit, as he films for his new film based on Formula 1.

The actor's expected to have his turn at racing and we may see him on the grid today ahead of lights out.

The Oscar-winning actor is expected to race an adapted racing car, which Formula One recently teased as the black and gold APXGP, in the as yet untitled film.

Pitt has been getting up to speed in Formula Two machinery for two months - first at the Paul Ricard Circuit in France and then at Silverstone.

In the film, the Fight Club star will play a driver who has come out of retirement to compete alongside a rookie and against the sport's biggest titans.

Joseph Kosinski, known for his work on Top Gun: Maverick, will direct the film and Formula One star Lewis Hamilton will co-produce it alongside Plan B Entertainment and Jerry Bruckheimer Films.

On Thursday, Lewis Hamilton spoke about the filming, saying: "There are nerves because it is something we've been working on for so long.

"We want everyone to love it and to really feel that we encapsulate what the essence of this sport is all about."

Apple has bought the rights to the movie, marking its second feature film with Pitt, with him also starring in thriller Wolves alongside George Clooney.

It's lights out at the Silverstone Circuit at 3pm.
