Concern is growing over the number of children being home-schooled in Bedfordshire without the appropriate supervision.

Around 500 children are currently home-schooled in the region, and the number's risen since the pandemic, with bullying and mental health being common reasons.

South West Bedfordshire MP, Andrew Selous, says he's concerned home-schooling isn't always as good as in-person:

"There are some parents who do it fantastically well - which is brilliant."

"At the other end, there are parents who themselves, sadly, have not had a good education. In some cases can't read or write."

"Most other European countries permit home education, but there are much more stringent checks on the progress the kids are making."
