Two sentenced for chasing and stabbing teenage girl in High Wycombe
The incident happened in August last year.
A woman and a teenage girl have been sentenced for assault in High Wycombe.
18-year-old Laiba Ashfaq, of Cross Road, High Wycombe was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Monday (24th March), to three years detention in a Youth Offender Institution.
She was found guilty, by unanimous jury verdict, to one count each of attempted robbery and criminal damage to the contents of a house and, by majority jury verdict, to one count each of burglary with the intent to steal and Section 20 grievous bodily harm (GBH), at the same court.
A girl, aged 17, was also sentenced, at Reading Crown Court on Monday (24th March), to a four and half year Detention Training Order under Section 250 of the Sentencing Act 2020.
She pleaded guilty to one count each of GBH with intent, criminal damage to a car and criminal damage to the contents of a house.
She was found guilty, by unanimous jury verdict of attempted robbery and, by majority jury verdict, to one count each of burglary with intent to cause GBH, burglary with intent to steal and burglary with intent to cause damage, at the same court.
At around 1.30pm on Thursday 1st August last year, the 17-year-old girl, Laiba and two other people went to the victim’s home address and the girl threw a brick at a car windscreen on the driveway.
The group then broke into the house by smashing a glass door and caused damage by throwing eggs, ripping paperwork, damaging cosmetics and using them on the walls.
They also stole items, causing around £7,000 worth in damage and theft.
When the victim arrived home from work, the group chased her to Amersham Hill and beat her up.
The girl stabbed the victim three times.
During the attack, the victim was on a call with police so the attack could be heard.
The group tried to steal her phone but couldn’t find it.
Laiba then stole the victim’s house keys and the group ran off, leaving the victim in the street.
The victim, a woman in her late teens, sustained a punctured lung and required emergency surgery.
Laiba was arrested and charged the next day.
The girl was arrested on the day of the offence and charged on Saturday 3rd August, last year.
A 14-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were acquitted of all offences in connection with this incident.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Abbey Neira Rivera said: “This was a horrific incident for the victim whereby she believed she was going to die having been stabbed multiple times then being left alone bleeding out in the street at night.
“I hope she now feels a sense of justice.
