#Meetthevaccinators: Hertfordshire vaccinator enjoys a sing-a-long and a proposal at work
Jan is focused on making the process as fun and relaxing as possible
A Hertfordshire vaccinator is determined to have fun at work while making it comfortable and safe for patients.
Jan is one of over 80,000 people in the country helping vaccinate the public against Covid-19, and says its amazing to be a part of the process.
Having taken a step away from full time clinical work for 20 years she says it was daunting to be back, but is really enjoying it.
She says its about having fun and looking after the patients:
"I did have an elderly gentleman ask me to marry him and when I said I was married he told me he could sort that out because he had a bit of money in the bank and I would be better off with him.
"I am the sort of person who things of a song when someone says something. So, if someone is talking to me and it reminds me of a lyric I will sing something.
"Then if it is someone's birthday and they come into the centre why wouldn't you sing happy birthday to them? Its all about having a bit of fun at work.
"We do have people coming through who are nervous though and its about making them feel safe. If they need to be take to a quiet room, if they need a few minutes, or even to lie down we can do that.
"I don't care if I have 20 people to see I want every single person to get their vaccine in a way that is safe and comfortable for them. Being able to make them feel comfortable is a privilege for me."
Across the South East over 10 million vaccines have been given, and there are more to come with eligibility reaching all adults now.
A call out has been placed for more volunteers and vaccinators from the NHS South East twitter.
Jan says it mean a lot to her to be part of this process:
"Vaccinating is going to be the thing that makes a difference, the thing that gets us back to gigs, live events, just back to our lives.
"We will be able to see our family again, I haven't been able to hug my mum properly and Im just so excited to do that.
"The vaccine programme is just so exciting its going to change lives."
