The family of a man who died after being hit by a car have paid tribute to him.

Robert 'Bob' Clewley from Hemel Hempstead was knocked down by a car just before 6pm on Friday and tragically died at the scene.

Bob Clewley was 71-years-old when he passed away

Paying tribute Bob, his family said: "Our much-loved dad, Bob, leaves behind a brother, five children, nine grandchildren and a newly born great granddaughter.

“He was a true gentleman and would always help anybody, nothing was too much trouble.

“A London black cab driver for well over 30 years, he was well respected amongst his wide circle of friends. 'Top of the world Bob' was a Chelsea fan and kept everyone entertained with his expert analysis and continuous stream of jokes and stories.

“This is a huge loss for us and for everyone that knew him. We'll never know anyone like him again, RIP Dad."

Police are still appealing for anyone with information about the collision, which happened on the A405 North Orbital Road at the junction of Bucknalls Lane, to get in touch.
