Hertfordshire Police launch appeal after cyclist dies in fatal collision

Hertfordshire Police have launched an investigation after a fatal collision that killed a cyclist in Bovingdon.

Officers first received reports of an incident on Bovingdon Green at around 11 a.m. on Friday morning (May 24th).

When responders arrived on the scene, they found a white Ford Transit van that had collided with a bike.

Despite their best efforts, the cyclist - who was a 60-year-old man - was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

The driver of the Ford Transit van - who is a man in his 20s, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The incident took place on Bovingdon Green in the Hertfordshire town of Bovingdon.

Hertfordshire Police have now opened an investigation into the incident and have appealed to the public to get in touch with any information they may have.

Speaking on their investigation, Detective Sergeant Ben Heath from the force said: "We are appealing for any witnesses to please come forward.

"Sadly, a man passed away at the scene. Our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time. Were you driving in the area? Did you see the collision or the vehicle involved? Please get in touch if you can help.”

Those who may have witnessed the collision, or anyone who may have any relevant information from around the time of the crash, is being urged to get in touch with the force as soon as possible.
