Two men charged after £500k Hertfordshire vehicle thefts
Cars were stolen using specialist equipment to bypass security
Two men have been charged as part of an investigation into keyless vehicle thefts worth more than £500,000 across Hertfordshire.
The thefts, which targeted high-value vehicles, took place between October and December this year. The cars were stolen using specialist equipment designed to bypass keyless security systems.
Aurimas Sarkis, a 29-year-old from Swallow Drive, Raunds, Northamptonshire, and Ignas Kisskiss, a 36-year-old from Sisley Road, Barking, have now been charged with multiple counts of conspiracy to steal motor vehicles.
Chief Inspector Martin Turpin from Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "Vehicle theft, particularly of high-value keyless models, has been a prevalent crime across the county in recent years. This type of crime is often linked to organised crime groups, and using specialist equipment thieves can steal a vehicle in seconds."
Police have advised car owners to use approved steering wheel locks and signal-blocking pouches for key fobs to help secure their vehicles.
