Former Mayor of Hatfield pays tribute to the Queen
Caron Juggins says she was like "everybody's grandma"
The former Mayor of Hatfield has been speaking to Greatest Hits Radio about the time Her Majesty visited the town as part of her tour of Hertfordshire.
During the trip, she planted an oak tree in Hatfield Park in June 2012 to commemorate her Diamond Jubilee.
Reflecting on her legacy and the impact she had on the people of Hertfordshire, Caron Juggins said:
"She's live everybody's grandma, she's just got that lovely, friendly face."
"She really is a queen of the people. It didn't matter if you were a dignitary or a common man, she respected everyone in the same way and I thought that was magical."
"Sitting with the queen in a grand Hatfield house and having the queen next to me was surreal - I felt as though I was a princess myself!"
Speaking about how the news of Her Majesty's passing affected her, Ms Juggins said:
"I haven't felt that way actually since my husband died four years ago and it was of immense loss and sorrow to our nation. It really made me quite tearful actually."
Thousands of mourners are expected to line the streets as the Queen's casket leaves Buckingham Palace for the final time on Wednesday.
The King will be joined by sons Princes William and Harry and they'll walk behind the Queen's coffin to the Palace of Westminster.
