Hatfield man convicted of making indecent image of child
He is due to be sentenced next month
A man from Hatfield has been convicted of making an indecent image of a child after he filmed up the skirt of a young girl.
John McCann, of Poppy Walk, appeared before St Albans Crown Court last Tuesday (12 October) following a one-and-a-half-day trial.
The jury convicted him on one count of making an indecent image of a child, which related to an incident which happened in Welwyn Garden City in November 2017.
The court heard how the video was later discovered on McCann’s Google Drive app, which showed footage of the victim sitting on a sofa while wearing a skirt.
She was not aware she was being filmed by McCann.
In addition, 43-year old McCann pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing extreme pornography after bestiality videos were found on his mobile phone.
McCann is due to be sentenced for all four counts on 10 November.
Detective Constable Laura Frelford from Hertfordshire Constabulary said:
“McCann secretly filmed the young victim for his own perverted gratification and he has been found guilty of that offence.
“Protecting young people is paramount and we take all reports of sexual offences against children in Hertfordshire enormously seriously. If you have been the victim of a sexual offence, however long ago it happened, there is support available.”
