Electricity grid workers across East of England call off strike action
Members of Unite at UK Power Networks have accepted an 18% pay rise
Workers at UK Power Networks, the company that maintains the electric grid across the East of England, have called off planned strike action.
Members of Unite have accepted an 18% pay rise, with 8% backdated to 2022 and a further 10% for this year. Workers will also get a one off payment of ÂŁ750.
UK Power Networks look after pylons and sub stations across the East of England as well as in London and the South East.
Around 1,300 staff were involved in the pay dispute.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “This is a well-deserved win for workers who were prepared to take a stand for a fair pay rise.
“Unite is entirely committed to fighting for the jobs, pay and conditions of its members. This victory for UK Power Networks workers is yet another demonstration that Unite’s strategy is delivering for our members.”
Unite regional officer Jane Jeffery said: “This victory was achieved through the hard work and solidarity of Unite’s reps and members at UK Power Networks. Workers who want better wages and working conditions should join Unite and organise their colleagues to do likewise.”
