A fundraiser has been launched in memory of a 27 year-old who died after being hit by a police car in Aylesbury.

The incident happened on 16 April and Thames Valley Police is now under investigation**.**

Kimberley Cameron has been described as a "passionate cyclist and runner", who had set herself a goal to complete a 10km run by the end of April.

She had decided to do just that on the evening the incident happened, but "sadly she didn't come home".

That is according to the fundraising page, which has already raised more than ÂŁ2,500 for "her favoured charity", Diabetes UK.

Kimberley had type 1 diabetes, but was "determined to not let it impact her life".

The fundraiser has been organised by the family's neighbour Sam Smuts and her fiance, and is called 'Together we Complete Kim's 10km'.

People are being asked to "honour Kim's memory in May by completing a 10km activity", such as running, walking, riding or hiking, either individually or as a team relay.

They are asking that people taking part in the challenge post pictures on social media using the hashtag #unitedwedidkims10km .

Sam told Greatest Hits Radio Bucks, Beds and Herts they are "completely blown away at the level of donations that have come streaming in and the kind words that have come in with it":

"The whole purpose of setting this up wasn't necessarily to get the donations coming in.

"It was about everyone getting out and doing that 10k activity, whether you walk it, you run it, you relay it, cycle it - however you want to do it.

"Keep on getting out there and doing Kim's 10k however you feel fit.

"Put those posts up, already we're starting to see the hashtag come through.

"Just keep doing it and remember be happy, be joyful like Kim was and enjoy it."

She also read this statement from Kimberley's father:

"We are grateful for the love and support shown by the Berryfields, Aylesbury and Buckinghamshire community, and would love to thank them.

"I don't think we could have got through this without it.

"We are hoping that people can take a moment during May to help Kim complete her 10 kilometres and reflect on the joyful, beautiful young woman she was."

Donations can be made via the online JustGiving page here**.**
