Firefighters tackle large derelict care home fire in Ampthill

Crews were called just before 4pm yesterday

Firefighters in Bedfordshire have contained a large derelict building fire in Ampthill.

Crews from Ampthill, Kempston, Bedford, Toddington, Luton, Biggleswade, Shefford and Leighton Buzzard were called to the fire at Agate House, a derelict care home, in Woburn Road.

Breathing apparatus, hose reels, jets and an aerial ladder platform were all used.

They were called at 3:51pm yesterday (May 12th) with emergency services remaining at the scene after the fire had been contained.

The cause will be investigated by FRS and the police.
