Firefighters have rescued a woman and three children from a fire in a block of flats in Bletchley.

The blaze happened in a corridor on the first-floor of a seven-story block of flats in Serpentine Court at around 3.50am today (10 August).

Crews used a ladder to rescue one woman, two boys and one girl from a first-floor balcony.

They were given immediate emergency care for the effects of breathing in smoke, and were then left in the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

Firefighters used four sets of breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to put out the fire, and a positive pressure ventilation fan to help clear smoke.

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service has confirmed "a fire investigation is underway, and the incident is in the hands of Thames Valley Police".
