Firearm believed to have been used as one man injured in Watford

A police helicopter was used to try and locate the suspect.

A man has been treated for a leg injury after he was found in Watford wounded.

Police were called to the Woodside Playing Fields on Horseshoe lane by the ambulance service, and officers believe a firearm may have been involved, but are still working to find out how the leg was injured.

The incident happened and police were called around 7:25pm last night (July 19) and proceeded to search the are with use of a police helicopter, but were unable to locate the suspect.

They say enquiries are ongoing and the victim's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Detective Inspector Adam Conder said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation and our officers remain in the area at this time. I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have seen or heard anything in the events leading up to it to please get in contact.

“I am also particularly keen to trace a dog walker who is believed to have been in the area at the time and may have vital information that could help progress enquiries.

“Anyone with information is asked to please phone 101 quoting ISR 757 of 19 July.”
